God’s Grace

God’s Grace Has the Final Word

If you feel like you’ve messed up too much for God to use you, you’re not alone. But you’re also not beyond His reach.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.”

—Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Throughout Scripture, God used broken, flawed people to do incredible things. Moses was a murderer. David was an adulterer. Rahab was a prostitute. Peter denied Jesus. And yet, He used them. And He will use you and me.

Grace That Goes Deeper

God’s grace isn’t just for the “almost perfect.” It’s for the addicted, the ashamed, the doubting, and the distant. I have had issues with this myself, thinking that no one, not even the Lord Himself, would accept me with all of my flaws. I have made many mistakes in my life. Mistakes that brought me shame. I did not grow up in a loving home, but in one that was abusive. My judgment was off because I did not have any examples of a loving father. I have had to learn that God the Father is a loving God. He wasn’t anything like my earthly father.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
—Romans 5:8 (NIV)

Letting Go of Shame

Guilt says, “I did something wrong.” Shame says, “I am something wrong.” God breaks the lie of shame with the truth of your identity in Christ.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
